Captain Gary W. Scott (Retired)

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to apply for a position with Active Aerospace Training as an Airbus Simulator Instructor.  I am presently employed as a Simulator Instructor with Air Canada on the A330 / A340.

Currently, my main duties are to conduct Recurrent training for line qualified pilots.  To conduct Full Flight Simulator courses associated with Transition, Re-qualification and Command Transition training.  As well we complete Initial FFS courses for new hire Relief Pilots.  I have also assisted in the design and writing of scripts for our new Advanced Qualification Program.

I retired from Air Canada November 1st, 2005.  At that time I was a qualified Check and Training Captain on the Airbus 340-500, A340-300 and A330-300.  My duties included:

-               Aircraft                  -  Recurrent Line Checking

-               Aircraft                  -  Transition Line Checking

-               Simulator              -  Pilot Proficiency Checks

-               Simulator              -  Instrument Ratings

-               Simulator              -  Initial Type Ratings

The following is a brief history of my flying career.

I began flying with the Royal Canadian Air Force (Canadian Armed Forces) on

August 9th, 1965.  After completing flying training I was selected as an instructor on the CT114 (Tutor jet) and Lockheed T-33.  In 1971 I was posted to the Argus, an anti-submarine, long range patrol aircraft and flew operationally for the next 3 years.

On January 21, 1974, I began pilot training with Air Canada.  Following training I was based in Vancouver where I have resided for the past 34 years.

In September 2003, I was selected as a Line Indoctrination instructor on the A340/A330.  Shortly thereafter, I was promoted to a Supervisory / Check Pilot position, which I continued to fulfill until retirement in November, 2005.  Since that time I have been employed as an A330/A340 simulator instructor with Air Canada.

Please find attached a detailed summary of my accumulated flight times and qualifications.

Yours truly,

Gary Scott
